DIY Tooth Fairy Pillow

Well I know I JUST posted about Hand Sewn Pillows yesterday.
But I made another one for my niece (without a pattern, might I add)

What did I decide on?
A Tooth Fairy Pillow!
Yes, you heard me correctly. I made a little pillow responsible for holding tiny teeth and big dolla' bills.
Wanna see?

What You Need:
2 Different Colors of Felt for main body & pocket
White & Black Felt for eyes
Yarn/Thread

Directions:
First, I made some cartoon tooth sketches, and when I finally drew one I liked I traced it on felt and cut it out. I also cut out a few circles for eyes, a rectangle for the pocket, and little hearts for embellishment.

I put on the eyes, hearts and pocket on using a running stitch.
And the mouth using a backstitch.

After stitching on the eyes, mouth, hearts, and pocket. It was time to sew a running stitch all around the tooth. I stopped with about 2 inches left to stuff it, then stitched the last two inches up.

AND TADA:
I introduce Ruth the Tooth!

And the back where the teeth & dolla' bills go! :)

Isn't little Ruth adorable?
I can't wait to give this to my niece next month! :)

I'm addicted to sewing.
What should I make next??

DIY Hand Sewn Pillow

This past weekend my friend Samantha came over for "craft day"!  We made Stuffed Oreo cupcakes and spent the rest of the day sewing on our machines. After a few failed attempts at doing this and doing this (damn uneven sleeves!) I was happy that I bought a pillow pattern that I could work on...sans machine!

I have NEVER hand sewn anything before so I was a little nervous at first. But after I put the eyes, nose and mouth on Mr. Teddy Bear's face, I was feeling pretty confident about completing this little project!
Turning this:
...into this:
Isn't Mr. Teddy Bear the cutest?
I plan to make another hand sewn pillow (on my own without the pattern) so I can give one each to my niece and nephew when I see them next month. What do you think I should make next?
A teddy bear? an owl? another car?
I let little Paisley give her stamp of approval but she was a little skeptical.
Which is exactly why I don't make her anything! :)

Have you hand sewn anything?
I'd love to see them or hear any sewing advice!

Tennis Photo Booth

My friends and I unintentionally showed up at the "Prepster Party 2012" at FB's during our bar hopping on Saturday night.
The bar was completely packed and even a few Reds players were there having fun!
And luckily for everyone, there was a photo booth, MY FAVORITE!

Here are a few favorites from the event.

It's pretty apparent that we all had a fabulous time together this weekend.

A weekend I'd like to put on repeat

Last week was a pretty fantastic week followed by a outrageously amazing weekend.
I would like to relive it again please!!

Tuesday, I had my first "blate" with Sarah. We met at Keystone for dinner & drinks and lots of chit chat!
Wednesday, I attended the W&S Tennis Open and saw Andy Murray and Venus Williams play tennis! (Both are recent Olympic Gold Medalists)
Thusday, my friend Erin arrived from L.A. for the weekend and brought her sister Molly!
We all met up for dinner at Dewey's to catch up and plan the ultimate weekend!
Friday, my friend Jessica arrived from Chicago and my friend Joe drove down from Columbus!  We all went out for dinner and drinks and a night on the town in OTR.
Saturday, we all went to the Reds Game (seen here). And had another night of dinner, drinks, and a crazy night on the town! And another friend, Tinter, came in from Cleveland to join in the shenanigans.
Sunday, a few of us went to brunch at Maribelles, with another friend Andy who was in town from Nashville for the day. And then Erin and I just spend the entire day shopping and spending time together before her flight back to L.A.

All these out of town friends + 6 Cincinnati friends (me, Emily, CV, Jessie, Michael, Bono) =
one amazing weekend

Here are photos from my weekend! :)

Our "inside joke" photo. Hilarious.

So happy all my favorite people were in town to party together this weekend.
It's so delightful to hang out with a HUGE group where everyone genuinely enjoys everyone's company and has fun with each and every person involved.
There was alot of smiling, hugging and laughing all weekend.
I'm so grateful to have these people in my life...now if only they all still lived in Cincinnati! :(

Photos that make you want to JUMP

Have you ever tried to take a group JUMP photo?
It's not as easy as it looks, so here are some simple pointers to help you create the perfect JUMP photo:

First, find fun friends.
Mine were Erin (in town from Los Angeles), Jessica (in town from Chicago) and Molly (Erin's sister, and in town from Eastern Kentucky)

Second, find a good background.
Like, the Cincinnati Reds Stadium
Third, find a photographer.
We used our friend Michael, who was the best "photographer" we could find. Ha.

Fourth, ask the photographer to count to 3 to take the picture
...and when you hear 3, you JUMP!

NOT like this:
NOT like this either:
(although mine was pretty good)
If it doesn't work on try #2, try a different location and add a new person (Jessie)!
Because it's always the locations fault or too few people.

New location in downtown Cincinnati:
(Michael, Jessica, Erin, Myself, Jessie, Molly)

Then, order Ask the photographer to count to 3 again...and JUMP!
Like this!! Well, kind of.

I spent the entire weekend with these amazing girls and we had such a blast!!
This is just a little snapshot of our Saturday afternoon after the Reds vs. Cubs game.

More weekend fun to come! :)
