About eight weeks ago I started the Couch-to-5k program.
And to keep myself motivated I signed up for a race that fell the weekend of week 8, the final week, of my Couch-to-5k training.
Well, with the travel to Memphis and Austin, a sprained ankle and pure laziness, by the day of my race I was only on week 5 of my running program.
BUT I didn't let that stop me from showing up on Saturday and run/walk my way to the finish line.
And I must add, this wasn't even a 5K, this was a 4-miler! A whole mile longer than I was training for anyways.
Week 5 out of 8 of training PLUS an extra mile.
I was a little unprepared.
I finished the 4 mile race in 48:06, averaging a 12:02 minute pace.
I was very happy with my time, considering my lack of training.
It was definitely more fun running with 2,500 people than running alone, so it looks like I'll be signing up for another race pretty soon. But I think I'll finish my C25K program first...

That's awesome! I keep wanting to try one of those programs, but I am seriously lacking the motivation. Maybe I'll sign up for the Cinci color run and have something to keep me on track!
Good for you girl!!! I need to get back into running and working on my time-- I've gotten lazy too!
Was this the Hyde Park run?
Kudos on the 5K. Post pregnancy I'm definitely going to have to get on your regime.

Isn't it addicting?! There's something about running with people that makes you feel so different. I could run races every single day and never get burnt out running. It's those lone runs that feel so long. Awesome job!!
